Beachheads II

Description

Beachheads’ eponymous 2017 power pop debut received rave reviews and was described as "Catchy as fuck" by Stereogum, "Uniformly infectious" by Kerrang and "Bright and resiliently heart-heavy" by Rolling Stone Magazine. Now they are back with a new album, in which producer Frode Stromstad (of I Was a King and The No Ones, the latter featuring Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey of R.E.M.) has stripped the classic rock'n'roll down to the bone. There may be some power pop residue left if you listen closely, but Beachheads' second album could just as easily be described as Love (Arthur Lee's catchy 60s psychedelic pop/rock band) with a few punk records under their belt, as an up-tempo 2022 The Smiths or as a post-punk version of early Oasis, where innocence and romance go hand in hand with social realism and dystopia. Here you'll find a fantastic mix of twilight guitars, energetic drums and good melodies. "Beachheads II" is the soundtrack to everyday life, a handbook for total joy and acceptance of life as it is.
