The masters of dream pop are back with a splendid new album. Beach House presents its seventh album titled 7, which will be released on May 11 via Bella Union. While they used to limit themselves to producing what they were able to reproduce on stage, this time, that limitation has been ignored. Similarly, unlike previous albums, 7 does not have a producer in the traditional sense. Sonic Boom (Peter Kember) from Spacemen 3 played a crucial role on this album by rejecting conventions; this allowed for a lively, fresh sound protected from the problems of overloaded productions striving for perfection. Drummer James Barone, whom Beach House has trusted since 2016, played on the entire album, helping to put the rhythm at the heart of several of these tracks.
