Exhale, the result of the meeting between two iconic figures of modern electronic music, is the natural confluence of the unique and recognized sound signatures of Batu and Donato Dozzy. Drawing on techno in the broadest sense, the duo has created an immersive listening experience that celebrates the spark of inspiration and flourishes through experimentation. Under the name Batu, Omar McCutcheon has profoundly impacted current club music by reinterpreting the principles of dubstep, rooted in sound systems, to create inventive mutations that defy categorization. Donato Dozzy has been a major figure in European techno since the mid-2000s, contributing to the emergence of an immersive and subtle musical culture, infused with ethereal atmospheres. The two artists met in Japan in 2019, discovering a mutual appreciation for each other's work and a curiosity about how their distinct sound worlds could intersect. In February 2025, Batu visited Dozzy's studio in Rome. Within this true Aladdin's cave filled with instruments, the duo developed a continuous and instinctive flow of sketches that formed the foundation of Exhale. Between Dozzy's hardware-centered practice and Batu's meticulous software manipulations, a dialogue emerged between their distinct styles. Each found their place, and they learned from one another, creating an album that is both unique and deeply rooted in their respective musical heritages. The eight finished tracks that make up Exhale bear the imprint of both creators equally. True to their musical vision, they do not adopt a simplistic approach. Transcendental sequences are orchestrated with surgical precision by a kinetic rhythmic technique, and even the most impactful moments are balanced by a delicacy that reveals the full depth of the musical universe of both producers. The resulting album is a sincere and instinctive celebration of the respective strengths of Batu and Dozzy, elevated by their harmony.
