On the album The Poll Winners, discover the talents of Barney Kessel (guitar), Shelly Manne (drums), and Ray Brown (bass). First released in 1957 and recorded by the legendary engineer Roy DuNann, this 180g vinyl reissue benefits from audiophile mastering, sourced from the original tapes.
At the age of 17, Barney Kessel joined Chico Marx's orchestra and subsequently worked with Charlie Barnet and Artie Shaw. In 1947, he joined Charlie Parker's band, but it was in the early 1950s, with Oscar Peterson's trio, that the artist truly made his mark. He also worked with numerous jazz stars such as Chet Baker, Roy Eldridge, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sonny Rollins, and Milt Jackson.
