Although he experimented with a multitude of styles throughout his career, the singer BARIS MANÇO (1943-1999) specialized in rock, pop and funk. As the late 70s were a period of severe economic slowdown and political upheaval in Turkey, the Anatolian rock star took advantage of the opportunity to retire with his band, KURTALAN EKSPRES. After six months, he released Yeni Bir Gün, with songs not unlike the best of MICHEL POLNAREFF or CHRISTOPHE, an album considered by many to be a psychedelic masterpiece, even if the genre was a little out of fashion at the time. No less responsible for the success of this album was keyboardist KILIC DALISMAN, who made great use of the Fender Rhodes, Korgs and other ARPs in their most colorful sounds, adding phasing and echo chambers. The booklet features ultra-kitsch photos of the musicians, a detailed history of this cult album, and the song lyrics. Two extra insert sheets on the LP version. Recommended!
