Reaching musical transcendence is a difficult feat. When it happens, it occurs naturally, and no one knows this better than Band of Horses, whose landmark debut album, Everything All The Time, remains, twenty years later, as vibrant and, dare we say, transcendent as it was upon its release in 2006. Guitarist and singer Ben Bridwell founded Band of Horses in Seattle in 2004, after spending nearly a decade with Carissa’s Wierd, a flagship band of the melancholic American Northwest scene. Carissa’s Wierd offered beautiful orchestral pop, with songs that unflinchingly told stories of sorrow and loss, laced with a defeatist humor. Band of Horses rose from the ashes of this beloved group, propelled by Bridwell's warm, reverb-laden voice, as well as by woodsy, dreamlike tracks imbued with tension, nostalgia, and hope. With a brand new contract at Sub Pop and a series of stunning songs, the band recorded its first album, Everything All the Time, with producer Phil Ek at Avast Studios in Seattle. Everything All The Time is an album beautifully tinged with fragile highs and lows. This is partly where the genius of Band of Horses lies: they create in their songs intelligent and timeless movements, perfectly balancing despair and hope, calm and frenzy, love and fear. Not to mention, of course, the massive hit "The Funeral," which has become an iconic track of its time and continues to inspire new generations of fans and artists. Today, on the occasion of the album's 20th anniversary, Sub Pop and Band of Horses present the definitive portrait of the band during the era of Everything All The Time. For this reissue, the album has been fully remastered, with a revamped cover and liner notes written by Phil Ek. The album is accompanied by an additional disc containing bonus tracks, including the 2005 tour EP, a treasure trove of unreleased studio and live tracks, as well as rarities such as "The End’s Not Near" (used in the series The O.C.) and a demo version of "The Funeral."
