The alternative rock album of maturity for Los Angeles-based band Bad Suns! *Mystic Truth* takes its title from a piece of art that lead singer, Christo Bowman, discovered while visiting the Tate Modern in London on tour. Created by Bruce Nauman in 1967, the neon and glass piece expresses the statement: "The True Artist Helps the World by Revealing Mystic Truths." "I thought that related to the message of the record, which is to find the extraordinary in very simple things, even though we live in very dark times right now," says Bowman. "Instead of succumbing to that darkness, I think you have to try to maintain a bit of optimism, and try to discover these simple miracles so you don't lose sight of what's truly important." From the album's opening track, "Away We Go," Bad Suns reveals the timeless sensibility at the heart of the album. With its soaring vocals, majestic piano melodies, and fiery guitar sounds, the song unfolds like a battle cry. "'Away We Go' was mostly inspired by the fact that we've grown up, that we're feeling really adult for the first time, and that we're trying to make sense of it all," says Bowman, who co-founded Bad Suns at the age of 17.
