In the next three tracks, they traverse from jazz (Galt MacDermot) to hip-hop (Slum Village \/ J Dilla), including a dancefloor classic (Grace Jones). Their cover of Jay-Z's Timbaland-produced hit \"Dirt Off Your Shoulder\" is simply breathtaking. Their version of Sylvester's \"I Need Somebody To Love Tonight,\" with its disco's signature four-on-the-floor beat, won't help you get back up. They also venture into funk with Ike Turner's \"Getting Nasty\" before tackling the jazz classic \"Les Fleurs\" by Minnie Riperton. They pay tribute to Erykah Badu, who herself pays homage to J Dilla with \"The Healer.\" The moment the beat drops, Madlib's original production delivers, shaking the subwoofers with a supernatural bass tremolo while the steel pan plays Badu's vocal melodies. With this new album, Bacao takes the listener on a journey that covers a myriad of energies, tempos, and moods while managing to maintain a sense of unity.
