{"product_id":"bab-el-west_houdoud_2019_ino","title":"HOUDOUD","description":"Houdoud The word \"border\" is a one-eyed word; man has two eyes to see the world. This quote from Eluard inspires the narrative of Houdoud, Bab El West's new album. \"Houdoud\" is the border, the junction between worlds, but also their limit: joyful and threatening at the same time, complex and dual. The first album, Douar, the village, a critical success and winner of the SACEM self-production prize, laid the foundations of an imaginary village, the birthplace of the group and its roots. Houdoud, on the other hand, breathes asphalt, celebration, and back roads. Matured on the road, it bears the imprint of the stage and fertile encounters: with the talented Shiels, Irish former members of the band Sons of the Desert; the long-time sidekick Yannick Jory, a Breton saxophonist with gypsy inflections; and Jean-Luc Thomas, an exceptional flutist of Breton tradition, with African, Arab, and South American sensibilities. From stop to stop, these Celtic influences blend with the Maghrebi chaabi and gnawa sounds dear to the group to create \"Houdoud,\" the constantly renewed border. In the background, a common heritage: rock, pop, and Afro music. Sound engineer Léo Fourastié set up a mobile studio in a large wooden building located on the banks of the Jaudy estuary, in the Côtes d'Armor, the group's historical stronghold. The live recording of all tracks, from vocals to percussion, gives the album unique cohesion and warmth. Deeply organic, alternately a poetic western, a fable, an initiation story, Houdoud scrutinizes life through catchy melodies, at the crossroads of man, animal, and plant.","brand":"Bab El West","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55310114881880,"sku":null,"price":20191129.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3760301210795.jpg?v=1765823851","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/bab-el-west_houdoud_2019_ino","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
