There’s something in the air! It’s approaching everyday and it’s not a fucking superhero. No, the occupants of the approaching vehicle are indeed human beings; it’s Axis: Sova, and they’re here to Shampoo You. These extraterrestrial sounds have crossed our borders for a few years now; Shampoo You is Axis: Sova’s third album, following Early Surf in 2015 and Motor Earth in 2016. Now, with Shampoo You, the impact is more direct than ever before, and making rock music has become exciting! The truth is, Axis: Sova has always been a rock band, even when the “band” was just Sova and his Roland TR66 creating a maelstrom of reverberating fuzz, with wailing guitars in the foreground, while the rhythms stretched the depths. Over the years, however, this amorphous thing has become a band. Evolution is inevitable, and the band is now composed of three heads! Shampoo You heralds the arrival of the trio in Axis’ style: an incessant tempo with violent, distorted guitars, and supernatural howls. This time, however, they have crafted an elegant conveyor for their new sounds, with well-placed power-punk and classic pop touches creating memorable melodic (and harmonic) contours. This is the result of a joint effort from the trio formed by Tim Kaiser, Jeremy Freeze, and Brett Sova. Listening to Shampoo You offers new pleasures to the listener – once their anthems start to make your head bang, it spreads throughout the rest of your body in an irresistible way. Reality becomes difficult to control, as our minds disappear beyond the fog that blurs our existence, the eternal night alternating in a sporadic blink with blinding light.
