At the helm of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Santtu-Matias Rouvali has signed with Alpha Classics for recordings of Sibelius's symphonies and symphonic poems over 5 years, which have left their mark on the discography and received numerous awards worldwide. He wished to continue this cycle with the famous violin concerto, for which he chose the young Swedish violinist Ava Bahari, artist-in-residence at the Gothenburg Symphony and ECHO Rising Star for 2026/2027... Together, they form a close duo and share the same passion for the music of the Finnish composer, who, wounded by his failure to become the virtuoso violinist he dreamed of being, composed a concerto that would become an essential work in music history, where soloist and orchestra are fused... Rouvali and the GSO also record another work that testifies to Sibelius's innovative symphonic thinking: the cycle of the Four Legends of Lemminkäinen, first heard in Helsinki on April 13, 1896.
