Asphalt Ballet

Description

Asphalt Ballet is a hard-hitting American rock band, formed in San Diego, California, blending the raw soul of blues rock with the power of hard rock and the energy of Southern rock. Their name is a symbol: Asphalt Ballet evokes the high-speed drama of a motorcycle accident - metal, movement, and danger sliding on burning asphalt. The classic lineup of the band brings together charismatic singer Gary Jeffries, bassist Terry Phillips, drummer Mikki Kiner, and guitarists Danny Clarke and Julius J. Ulrich. Signed to Virgin Records, Asphalt Ballet made a explosive debut with their self-titled first album in 1991. The band quickly established itself on MTV, dominating the cult show Headbangers Ball. The video for "Soul Survive" remained undefeated for over two months, going up against rock giants such as Ozzy Osbourne and The Cult. The band then recorded an EP in 1991 featuring 5 tracks recorded during the sessions for that album, followed by a 2nd album in 1993; the band then disbanded in 1994 after 6 years of activity. Closely tied to biker culture, Asphalt Ballet's first album appears in the cult film Beyond the Law, starring Charlie Sheen. Today, all members are still alive and healthy, and discussions are underway about a possible reunion for the band's 35th anniversary, with the original lineup, which could take place at the legendary Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in 2026.
