Working primarily from his own recordings, Ash treats each sample like physical matter that he distorts, stretches, shapes; then he mixes them with classical music: he draws on his background in Western or Persian music, learned during his years at the Tehran Conservatory of Music; the result is original and unique works. To describe this process, Ash says it's about "finding geometry in sounds". At 30, Koosha already has an incredible story, including a stint in prison in Iran because of his music, which led him to seek asylum in the United Kingdom. The Cannes Film Festival award-winning film, "No One Knows About Persian Cats", is partly inspired by his misadventures.
