Like many Italian artists, MISCREANCE is a fervent connoisseur of the classics. Upon the release of their first album with Season of Mist in 2022, the band was compared to Death, Atheist, Pestilence, and other great names in the history of technical death metal. This quartet, often shirtless and wearing high-top sneakers, preserves the old-school spirit of the genre, but their new opus is not simply a tribute to the past. ‘Reminiscence’ is not an attempt by the band to resurrect the golden age of death metal. On the contrary, through a collective hallucination, MISCREANCE explores dark territories yet unexplored by the genre. The first single, “Scalp Ceremony,” unleashes bloody virtuosity before getting the crowds headbanging. MISCREANCE found inspiration for ‘Reminiscence’ by digging through the sands of time. Through techno-thrash riffs and tempo changes with progressive accents, the band unveils an unknown civilization where hunting, cave paintings, the didgeridoo, and the berimbau are as common as telepathic surgeries, strange languages, and a celestial corpse in flames. The ascent of “The Moaning Hill” is not for the faint of heart, but the complex twists that line its winding path lead to truly sacred pleasures.
