Dialogue : Entre modernité et tradition au 20e et 21e siècle

The works featured on the album *Dialogue Between Modernity and Tradition in 20th and 21st-Century Music* draw their inspiration from past centuries, weaving a connection between history and the present time. Composers Aldona Nawrocka, Anna Ignatowicz-Glinska, Bartosz Kowalski, Edward Sielicki, Przemyslaw Zych, and Tadeusz Baird rely on centuries-old traditions to adorn them with contemporary harmonies. The spirit of music from bygone eras, perceptible in these compositions, blends with the sounds of the 20th century. Although these pieces were originally conceived for period instruments — and most were recorded on modern instruments — it is worth noting that Tadeusz Baird's *Four Love Sonnets* for baritone, harpsichord, and strings (the work requiring the largest ensemble) has been recorded here for the first time with authentic instruments from the period that inspired the composer. This musical juxtaposition of two worlds — history and modernity — takes the listener on an extraordinary journey through time. An extraordinary journey because, while asserting itself, the present also makes room for the creations of past centuries; after all, there would be no "now" without the "once upon a time."
