Blowin' Up
Description
Kiwi Jr. returns with Blowin' Up, their fourth album, recorded at HIGH BIAS Studios in Detroit with Graham Walsh (Holy Fuck) producing and Nicolas Vernhes (Deerhunter, Silver Jews) mixing. For this occasion, the band recruits a choice local posse - Protomartyr, Stef Chura, Fred Thomas - as well as Margaux Bouchaudon from En Attendant Ana and Kerri Maclellan from Alvvays. Ten tracks that dissect the ambient chaos with the band's characteristic nonchalance, somewhere between quick pain and lucrative settlement, administrative quicksand and rising waters. "When detectives get here Monday morning, it's our fingerprints on the scene." No part of modern life escapes the Kiwi mixer: a mother-daughter duo solving crimes, a relocation to the mysterious Hard Drive, Ontario, and teenage escapades in Windsor to drink Labatt 50 at the legal Canadian age. But Blowin' Up is also Kiwi Jr. at their most optimistic. "I wanna live in a world like Polly and pretend it's cool to pretend not to care." A line that draws a boundary in their often feigned slacker attitude. "I am on your side!" they repeat in Painting after Painting - and we believe them. Four albums in, still playing for the sake of playing. Kiwi Jr. is on our side, and they are about to blow everything up.Buy Blowin' Up at the best price
