Des Femmes disparaissent

Description

Art Blakey, hero of the Parisian jazz scene, thanks to his concert at the Olympia on November 22, 1958, and his subsequent appearances at the Club Saint-Germain. The public swore only by his tracks "Blues March" and "Moanin'"; why not entrust him with the soundtrack for the film Molinaro had just finished? The only problem, though major, was that time was short, and an original score was therefore out of the question: the Jazz Messengers would have to preach the good word by other means. Fortunately, the group's tenor and arranger, Benny Golson, had become an expert in the art of creating something new from the old, and he handled it with as much talent as intelligence. With the exception of three original tracks, the film's musical sequences are actually excerpts from the Messengers' repertoire, but in adapted versions; for example, "Whisper Not" can be recognized under "Ne Chuchote Pas." It was an extremely risky process... but the result turned out to be remarkable!!!
