Arm entered the French rap scene 15 years ago. His first album, released under the name Psykick Lyrikah, earned him critical acclaim but also the label of "intellectual rap." This label stuck due to his unique writing style, which sometimes bordered on spoken word. After 7 albums as Psykick Lyrikah, ARM launched under his own name, first with TEPR for the album Psaumes, then in 2017 with his first solo album. The guiding principle for Codé, his new album, was to create an imaginary film soundtrack with lyrics, moving away from the ever-present, ubiquitous codes of rap. The soundtrack remained. But over time, rhythmic elements were gradually added, a few song reflections under sweeping string arrangements and (rare) choruses followed by long instrumental passages. Ultimately, however, rap returned: it was somewhat naive to believe he could turn his back on it. It just evolved further. The imaginary film, in the background, also remained.
