Black And White Raven

Description

A masterpiece of blue-eyed soul and yacht rock, *Black and White Raven* is an album born from Archie James Cavanaugh's youthful dream of recording his own music deep in the wilds of Alaska. With a cast of musicians gathered during travels in the Pacific Northwest, including Tony Bellamy and Pete DePoe of Redbone, this debut album was recorded in the very late 70s. Released in 1980 on a private pressing, the now highly sought-after record remained very confidential at the time. Traces of disco, soul, funk, gospel, and schooner rock blend freely with his Tlingit heritage, an indigenous people from southeastern Alaska, creating an optimistic and casual portrait of life in the 49th state.
