After dedicating several records to the chamber music of Brahms and Schubert, cellist Marie-Elisabeth Hecker records a major concerto with orchestra, thus demonstrating the full strength of her talent. Composed between 1918 and 1919, Edward Elgar's Concerto Op. 85 received a mixed reception at its premiere, but has since become a staple of the cello repertoire. In addition, Marie-Elisabeth Hecker reunites with her chamber music partners, violinists Carolin Widmann & David McCarroll, violist Pauline Sachse, and pianist Martin Helmchen, for Elgar's Piano Quintet, a work he composed at the same time as his Concerto Op. 85 and which premiered in London in 1919.
