Mendelssohn : symphonies nos. 3 & 5

Here are two masterpieces of the symphonic repertoire: the most famous symphonies by Mendelssohn (including "The Italian"), commonly referred to as "The Scottish" and "The Reformation." They have always been at the top of the most listened to works in the romantic repertoire, illustrating the exceptional art of orchestration and melody of their composer. The Academy of Chamber Music of Potsdam is unanimously recognized today as one of the best ensembles for the interpretation of these pieces, and its recordings of Schubert's symphonies have, in the past, achieved great success with critics. Antonello Manacorda is the current principal conductor of the Kammerakademie of Potsdam. He has succeeded since 2010 at the head of this ensemble a long line of remarkable conductors, including Peter Rundel and Michael Sanderling. He significantly contributes to the worldwide renown of this orchestra and its artistic influence.
