Anthony was a founding member of Genesis alongside Peter Gabriel, Mike Rutherford, and Tony Banks, with whom he recorded the albums "From Genesis To Revelation" and "Trespass." After leaving the band in 1970, Anthony studied orchestration and harmony externally at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He made his return to the commercial music scene with the release of his first solo album "The Geese & The Ghost" in 1977 and continued to create a broad and diverse body of work as a recording artist. Anthony is known for the successful series of albums "Private Parts & Pieces." Beginning in 1978, the first four volumes showcased a wide range of music recorded for various projects (dating back to 1972) and have come to be regarded by fans as essential collections of his extensive and diverse compositional work. In 2018, Anthony Phillips and Jonathan Dann compiled this luxury four-disc box set, which brought together "volumes IX to XI" of the "Private Parts & Pieces" albums, "Dragonfly Dreams," "Soirée," and "City of Dreams." It is important to note that the box set also added an additional CD of 18 unreleased tracks, "Private Parts and Extra Pieces III," featuring recordings made between 1991 and 2012. This additional CD was far from a mere collection of unreleased recordings, but a carefully organized album that should be considered an additional volume of the "Private Parts & Pieces" series, making this box set a definitive collection of these classic albums. The box set includes a booklet with an essay by Jonathan Dann and fully restores the artwork from the original releases.
