COLD SNAP

Description

Sometimes, the best music is like a photograph. ANTHONY D'AMATO's music, however, is like a Polaroid, with its amber hue and vintage tone, electric streaks, exuding a folk and rock and roll aura. It's like a snapshot capturing moments of exhilaration and despair, darkness and light, revealing raw, pure, and intimate portraits of its subjects. For his 2014 debut on New West with his album The Shipwreck From The Shore, D'AMATO had made a strong impression and received high praise, such as from NPR, which called his music a "gem of modern folk." Produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, First Aid Kit), Cold Snap takes D'AMATO's timeless folk in a new, adventurous direction. "A lot of the songs on this album have to do with how we reconcile perception and reality," he explains, adding that they are rooted in modern anxieties. The album's eleven tracks not only showcase D'AMATO's songwriting talents but also prove that the young man knows how to surround himself with good people. Conor Oberst can be heard on 'I Don't Know About You,' and other members of Bright Eyes, The Faint, and Cursive appear throughout the album.
