New pressing for this album, in translucent highlighter yellow. Inspired by minimal pop and the pioneers of electronic music, LES MANIÈRES DE TABLE, the debut solo album by Annie-Claude Deschênes, is as danceable and melodic as it is unsettling and dystopian, proposing to set the table differently by deconstructing the social codes of politeness imposed on us. Created during the lockdown to counter the surrounding inactivity, the songs that make up LES MANIÈRES DE TABLE were not intended for release. It was through familiarizing herself with new technologies (drum machines, sequencers) that the conceptual and aesthetic ideas defining the album began to develop organically. By producing beats composed from samples of utensils, the table label becomes a source of inspiration, a form of conformity that she enjoys deconstructing. At the same time, a fascination with surveillance cameras and other futuristic, yet already obsolete, technologies is part of her visual universe. Her experiments gradually evolved into a full-fledged project that is reminiscent of the works of electronic music pioneers. The album draws inspiration from the minimalism of Steve Reich, the synthetic textures of Kraftwerk, the stylistic diversity of Herbie Hancock, and the non-traditional narrative approach of experimental cinema.
