Description

On a Painted Ocean is the new album from composer and multi-instrumentalist Walt McClements, also a member of Weyes Blood’s live band. It's a suite of accordion and organ pieces that flow steadily, swelling and expanding with a tide of tender emotions. Months spent on Weyes Blood’s tour bus with limited instruments led Walt to explore recreating the sound of his accordion on synthesizer, layering it with organ tracks. Stuck in a creative rut, Walt took his treated accordion and synth tracks, reversed organ and melodica, run through pedals and computers, to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Having lived in the Louisiana city for ten years before moving to Los Angeles, Walt McClements found a new source of inspiration from his community during one of the most ecstatic and meaningful times of the year.
