Deutsche Grammophon continues its project of a complete recording of the symphonies of Shostakovich in collaboration with conductor Andris Nelsons and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. After the releases of the 10th symphony in 2015, and the 5th, 8th, and 9th in 2016, here is the third installment bringing together the epic 4th and the dramatic 11th symphony of the composer. Andris Nelsons is the music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the new Gewandhauskapellmeister of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. With these two appointments and leading a pioneering alliance between these two esteemed institutions, he is firmly recognized as one of the most renowned, exciting, and innovative conductors on the international scene.
