Hildegard Lernt Fliegen is a joyful and rhythmic sextet, led by singer Andreas Schaerer. Together, they won the BMW World Jazz award, while Andreas himself won the ECHO Jazz award for singer of the year 2015. But far from resting on his laurels, he undertook to compose for his group with the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra. The result is breathtaking: the large concert hall in Lucerne was sold out, and on stage, 65 musicians, along with the highly respected conductor Mariano Chiacchiarini, created music that is captivating and borderless. From a visual as well as an acoustic perspective, the show was a success: harmonious, sometimes improvised, the result is superb and shows an unparalleled chemistry between the orchestra, the composer, and the conductor. The standing ovation and the many smiles at the exit are a testament to this, a smile that you will certainly have while listening to this magnificent recording.
