With "Passers of Time," ASTA skillfully demonstrates that as time goes by, the bond that unites and brings together the artists of this quartet has truly made its mark. More than 20 years after their now-cult album "West Side Story," released (BMG – 1997), André Ceccarelli called upon his accomplices Sylvain Beuf, Thomas Bramerie, and Antonio Farao to record "Passers of Time," the first album of their quartet, named ASTA. André Ceccarelli: "It’s really a group; it’s no longer the André Ceccarelli Quartet, it’s ASTA. It’s a bit like being married, getting divorced, and then saying, ‘my wife is my wife, she will always be my wife,’ and we remarry!" Sylvain Beuf: "For me, it’s simply the best quartet I’ve had the pleasure of playing in. It’s like family members reuniting after a long journey that has somewhat distanced them. And now we’ve come back together with slightly different approaches and also some things we recorded about twenty years ago, and all of that quickly resulted in something quite great." Thomas Bramerie: "ASTA is the name we chose, which is actually an acronym of our first names, although it was also a suggestion from DD to start playing together again. He insisted that it be a group of the four of us, and each brought compositions." Antonio Farao: "The idea was to come together again after 25 years of silence and thus to revive this quartet that has an incredible sound, in my opinion." ASTA is the acronym of the first names of these fabulous artists (André, Sylvain, Thomas, and Antonio) who gathered at the Studio de Meudon in December 2018 to record this magnificent album "Passers of Time," which features eleven of their new original compositions.
