The German death metal band ANASARCA is back with their fifth studio album titled "ACHLYS". Founded in 1995 by drummer Heiner and guitarist/vocalist Mike (former member of Vomiting Corpses), ANASARCA quickly recorded the demo "Condemned Truth", followed by the album "Godmachine" in 1996, which allowed them to sign with Repulse Records. Their first album, "Godmachine", released in 1998, is still considered by many fans to be a classic of German death metal.After several lineup changes, ANASARCA released their second album, "Moribund", in 2001 via Mighty Music. This album stands out for its unique lyrical concept, with lyrics written by death row inmates, earning it strong recognition in the scene. The band continued with the conceptual album "Dying" in 2004, also published by Mighty Music, whose lyrics are based on the testimonies of terminally ill people.After a long period of inactivity and further lineup changes, ANASARCA made their return with renewed energy. The album "Survival Mode" was released in 2017 via Sevared Records, with guest vocals from Kam Lee (Massacre). Lyrically, it explored human behavior in extreme survival situations.Between February and July 2025, ANASARCA recorded their fifth album "ACHLYS" at Wretched Noise Studio in Oldenburg, Germany. Mixed by Daniel Meinzer and mastered by Dennis Israel (Scour, Amon Amarth, Primordial, Asphyx, Legion Of The Damned), the album's visual identity, including all graphics and artworks, was created by Robert Sindermann, who has previously collaborated with bands such as Havoc, Avulsed, Manticora, and Beyond Twilight."ACHLYS" is the band's most brutal, intense, and emotionally charged release to date. Musically rooted in melodic and brutal death metal, the album once again follows a concept - this time centered on grief, with lyrics written by people who have lost loved ones, reflecting both personal losses within the band and the wider metal community.For fans of Suffocation, Gorefest, Obituary, Grave, and Edge Of Sanity.
