Fondée en 1990 à Helsinki, AMORPHIS a fait son chemin jusqu'au sommet de la scène métallique européenne au cours des dernières décennies. Cependant, le terme « métal » ne définit plus nécessairement la bande. Bien sûr, à l'origine, les disciples autour du cerveau Esa Holopainen étaient définitivement du death metal, mais ont progressivement développé leur propre genre.
