On March 25th, Swedish metal band Amon Amarth will release their 10th studio album, Jomsviking, via Metal Blade Records (USA)/Sony Music (International)! Jomsviking is the first concept album of their career, taking us into a tragic tale driven by love and redemption, all accompanied by the signature metal melodies that characterize the band. The album was once again produced and mixed by Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Testament, Accept) and features special guest drummer Tobias Gustafsson (Vomitory). The story told in the album takes place during the era of the Jomsvikings, the legendary order of Viking mercenaries. Band leader Johan Hegg explains that "The Jomsvikings were a legendary and shadowy sect of mercenary Vikings who, according to myths, fought throughout Europe and the Middle East. Fierce and merciless, these warriors fought for the lords offering the highest bounty. Their code is simple: show no fear, never retreat, defend your brothers or, failing that, avenge their death. I felt that we were finally ready to tell their story in an Amon Amarth album. The world of the Jomsvikings serves as the backdrop for the story of a young man who falls in love with a woman already promised in marriage. In the meantime, he accidentally kills a man and has to flee, but promises to take revenge and win back the woman he loves. He cannot leave the past behind. He feels he has made the wrong choices and destroyed his own life. Don't expect a joyful tale."
