{"product_id":"ammar-el-sherei-aka-omar-el-shariyi_music-from-the-east_2025_mdl","title":"Music From The East","description":"Wewantsounds is delighted to announce the reissue of Ammar El Sherei's (aka Omar El Shariyi) cult album, *Music From The East*, originally released in 1976 on the Soutelphan label. The Egyptian musician and composer (1948-2012) revisits seven standards by another Egyptian legend, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, instrumentally, blending Arabic music with funk arrangements and the psychedelic sound of synthesizers from that era. El Sherei is one of the giants of Egyptian music. He attended a special school for the blind in Cairo (having lost his sight in early childhood). Thanks to this curriculum, he quickly learned piano, oud, and composition. In 1976, he signed with the Egyptian label Soutelphan and recorded *Music from the East*. On this album, as on its predecessor, *Oriental Music*, released the same year (and reissued in 2020 by Wewantsounds), El Sherei brilliantly performs Abdel Wahab's classics, including \"Enta Enta,\" \"El Kamh El Leila,\" and \"Balad El Mahob,\" the latter popularized by Oum Kalthoum. He creates hypnotic instrumentals that blend traditional Arab melodies with jazz, funk, and groove influences from the West. Popular with DJs and collectors of oriental groove, *Music from the East* is a gem and a cornerstone of Egyptian music that Wewantsounds is happy to re-release on vinyl for the first time since its original issue. The album has been remastered and reissued with the original Soutelphan Egyptian artwork, accompanied by liner notes from Mario Choueiry.","brand":"Ammar El Sherei (Aka Omar El Shariyi)","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55311879668056,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3700604764854.jpg?v=1760405460","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/ammar-el-sherei-aka-omar-el-shariyi_music-from-the-east_2025_mdl","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
