Nominated at the 2025 César Awards in the Best Original Music category, Amine Bouhafa, already winner of Best Music of the Year at the La Baule Film and Music Festival in 2022 for "Le sommet des Dieux", composed the soundtrack for the film.1759, on the Isle de France, present-day Mauritius. Massamba and Mati, slaves on Eugène Larcenet's plantation, live in fear and toil. He dreams of his daughter being freed, she of leaving the green hell of the sugarcane. One night, she flees. Madame La Victoire, a famous slave hunter, is hired to track her down. Massamba has no choice but to escape in turn.
