Description

Formed by three musicians who have performed alongside the Dutchman Jacco Gardner, the band celebrates 70s Anatolian rock, with a groove to wake the dead. The revelation of the 2017 Trans Musicales de Rennes. One might think this Turkish-speaking group originated in Istanbul. In fact, it was founded in Amsterdam at the end of 2016 by a Dutch bassist, Jasper Verhulst – who usually plays with the retro-futurist Jacco Gardner – who fell in love with the golden age (altin gün, in Turkish) of the Anatolian rock scene. Their music might seem kitsch, but it is, on the contrary, exhilaratingly exotic. Jasper Verhulst and his band meticulously cover the lyrics of the giants of Anatolian rock from the late 60s and early 70s, while infusing their covers with harmonies and an energy borrowed from today's pop.
