GWIL, JOE NEWMAN (guitar/vocals), GUS UNGER-HAMILTON (computer) and THOM GREEN (drums) met at the University of Leeds in 2007. Time has passed since the days when the buddies locked themselves in their student rooms to satisfy their overflowing passion for music. It has paid off as they will release their first album in May titled "An Awesome Wave". From the very first listen, the charm works! A voice recognizable above all, varied and incisive melodies. ALT-J is at the crossroads between RADIOHEAD, THE XX and WILD BEAST, nothing less! Since their highly noted appearance on BBC radio, the English are completely crazy about them, the press is unanimous and their peers are admiring. It is therefore with little risk that we can announce that "An Awesome Wave" will be one of the indie albums of the year...
