Looks Far Woman is an immersive album by cellist and composer Aliya Ultan, conceived as a cycle of six elemental "songs" at the crossroads of composition, dream logic, and ritual. Drawing from a period of exhaustion, Ultan uses breath and sustained attention as sonic materials to explore the hypnagogic threshold, that liminal space between waking and sleep where perception softens. Guided by the figure of "Looks Far Woman," a seer from her personal cosmology, the album traces an arc of departure, repair, and return. Recorded before a major life change, this record prioritizes patience and deep listening over technical virtuosity. Produced by Randall Dunn, this work marks a key milestone for this emerging artist on the contemporary experimental scene.
