The sonatas of Rachmaninoff and Chopin sublimated by the duo Weilerstein - Barnatan Alisa Weilerstein returns accompanied by her inseparable partner, pianist Inon Barnatan. This time she tackles two giants of chamber music for cello: the Sonatas of Rachmaninoff and Chopin. Rachmaninoff's Sonata in G minor is the composer's last chamber music work. Also in G minor, Chopin's cello sonata is one of the few he wrote for an instrument other than the piano, and it is the last work published during his lifetime. A program that leads directly to introspection, with mature works of extremely rich and dense writing, enhanced by the essential Vocalise by Rachmaninoff and the Étude, op. 25, no. 7 as well as the Polonaise brillante, op. 3 by Chopin. Alisa Weilerstein and Inon Barnatan form a fascinating duo and offer us an enlightened interpretation that could well become the new reference.
