A Musical Journey with Alice Ader

Description

This 34-CD box set traces the artistic journey of French pianist Alice Ader (born in 1945). It brings together several recently rediscovered recordings — notably the Pianovox masters from the late 1990s — as well as numerous studio sessions and previously unreleased live concert recordings. Alice Ader, a French virtuoso trained by Jacques Febvrier and Geneviève Dehery in the fundamentals of sound, now celebrates her 80th birthday with a 34-CD box set titled « A Musical Journey with Alice Ader ». To commemorate this anniversary, a 34-CD box set, « A Musical Journey with Alice Ader », is released, offering a complete overview of her career. This box set is much more than a simple compilation. In addition to authentic and hard-to-find studio recordings, it includes tributes to contemporary music, rare concerts, chamber music, as well as previously unreleased archival and family recordings. This document brilliantly attests to the breadth of her repertoire and her unwavering musical curiosity. Alice Ader frequently visited Olivier Messiaen at his home and followed his advice. The anecdotes about Messiaen's insistence that "every note of a chord resonates perfectly" and the memory of his humility in the face of metronome markings form the foundation of her performance interpretation. The entire album "20 Eyes," the fruit of her direct dialogue with Messiaen, is a must-listen. In Debussy's "Images" and "Prints," she broke with the received idea that "impressionism had to be blurry" to seek out "luminous, vibrant, iridescent" sonorities. In Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring," recorded in 2014 and originally conceived as a duo, Ader mistakenly rehearsed the "secondo" instead of the "primo" (first player). This mistake allowed her to perform the entire work solo, a feat she accomplished several times. He was a longtime friend of Philippe Elsan, to whom he dedicated, among other works, "Éphémères" and the piano concerto "Ruisseaux." Also included are several important works of contemporary French music, such as the sextet "Ihi Ruf to Dia" by the brilliant Olivier Greffe, who died prematurely and is now almost forgotten.
