Ali Hassan Kuban was born in 1933 in Gotha, Egypt, a small village in the heart of Nubia near the Aswan province. While maintaining strong roots in traditional Nubian rhythms and songs, Kuban and his band incorporated foreign elements, such as Cuban instruments and rhythms or the music of James Brown. Known as the "Captain of Nubian Music," Ali Hassan Kuban passed away in June 2001 in Cairo just after the release of his last album "Real Nubian" on Piranha Records. Today, Piranha Records is re-releasing the first album by the Godfather of Nubian Soul, Ali Hassan Kuban, originally released in 1980, which also marked the first collaboration between the artist and Piranha Records.Buy De la Nubie au Caire at the best price
