But one can also sense the freshness of a 20-year-old young man exploring and testing his creative power. The piano and violin concerto op. 17, composed a little later, is also very much in the Mozartian spirit. The performers present here the first recording of these pieces on period instruments. In their skillful and delicate playing, one might only note a slight lack of fantasy and urgency, qualities that would suit these youthful works well.
