Born Under A Bad Sign

Description

A blues king alongside Freddie and B.B. King, Albert King is inseparable from his trusty guitar and deep, soulful voice. The singer-guitarist had already released several hit singles when he joined the legendary Stax Records label in the mid-1960s. Based in Memphis, the famous label offered Albert King the services of its songwriters for 'Born Under a Bad Sign', his first album for Stax, released in August 1967. Reissued on vinyl for the first time, it brings together the famous singles 'Laundromat Blues', 'Crosscut Saw', some covers such as Roy Orbison's 'Oh Pretty Woman' and Leiber & Stoller's 'Kansas City', and a handful of original tracks, including the eponymous 'Born Under a Bad Sign', which would become a classic for generations of guitarists, from Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Joe Bonamassa.
