Alabaster DePlume worked for Ordinary Lifestyles, a charity that helps disabled people live at home. More specifically, he worked with Cy and Lee. His job was to help them socialize, and he did this by creating songs with them. They composed melodies together, hummed tunes… DePlume recorded these impromptu sessions on his phone and then went to the studio, using the material as a starting point for his songs. Alabaster DePlume is a conductor, composer, saxophonist, and activist born in Manchester. He resides at the London creative hub Total Refreshment Center and is the latest addition to the growing family of progressive musical explorers at Chicago International Anthem. The music of To Cy & Lee features naturally elegant orchestration wrapped around something visceral and primal.
