Description

Agent was born from a duo of composers formed by Andre Kunkel and Craig Zurba, before becoming a full-fledged band in the mid-1980s. After catching the industry's attention through a Canadian music competition, they became the first group to sign with Virgin Canada, leading to the release of their self-titled debut album in 1986.Blending refined melodic rock with AOR influences, Agent was compared to contemporaries such as Glass Tiger and Loverboy, while also echoing the sound of Preview. The album included standout tracks, notably "Surrender," widely regarded as the band's defining moment, along with "Headlines" and "Can't Stop."Despite a strong repertoire, the group's momentum was hindered by internal changes and a lack of support from the record label following a management reshuffle at Virgin Canada, which limited its commercial impact. In 1997, founding members Kunkel and Zurba revisited their debut album, re-recording it with multi-instrumentalist Troy Reid for Escape Music.
