Every small town encompasses this long stretch of forest where children run to gain height. For the stoner metal trio based in San Francisco, Acid King, and its brain Lori Woods, Busse Woods offered such a retreat in her native Illinois during her adolescence in the 70s. Lori was thus marked by the title Acid King, the second album released in 1999, Busse Woods. Celebrating its 20th year with a special reissue on Riding Easy Records and a tour in 2019, this album represents the heart and soul of the band. Frank Kozik, a renowned artist from the San Francisco Bay Area, initially released the CD on his label Man’s Ruin. Then "everything fell apart." Behind the scenes, personal and professional relationships crumbled. Marriages ended. Lineups changed. In the face of such turmoil, the music of Busse Woods rarely received its due on the scene, even though the aesthetic would exert an influence.
