Following their eponymous debut in 2007, 'Exploding Head' is A Place To Bury Strangers' most notable record, garnering critical acclaim for the New York noise rock outfit and a cult following. Led by Oliver Ackermann, the band had a simple goal for “their first proper studio album”; “to make the craziest, most messed up record ever.” Recorded in their Death By Audio studios in NYC and released on Mute Records, the album was critically acclaimed for its exploratory sound, taking cues from shoegaze icons such as Jesus & Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine. Pitchfork described the album as “frustrated aggression, lacerating feedback…saturated with lithe indie-pop melody.” The album has now been digitally remastered by Oliver Ackermann and is presented in 2 formats; 2CD Deluxe & 1LP Standard. This 2CD Deluxe is housed in a reverse board 6-panel Digifile and includes a 16-page booklet featuring newly designed artwork along with exclusive liner notes from music journalist Tris McCall. CD2 features B-sides, rarities, and covers, including the unreleased covers of "Take it All" and Bowie + 13th Floor Elevators. ‘Exploding Head’ was the second album from NYC noisemakers A Place To Bury Strangers and the aim appeared to be to make as much noise as possible. They achieved this goal with an album of barely controlled "aggression" that sent critics at the time scrambling for comparisons to My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth.
