The first Van Halen album was recorded in only three weeks with producer Ted Templeman in Los Angeles, capturing near-live performances with minimal overdubs and featuring the track "Eruption" which boosted Eddie Van Halen's reputation.
David Lee Roth departed in April 1985 amid internal tensions; Sammy Hagar replaced him later that year, leading to the band’s chart-topping 5150 album and a new sound with heavier use of synthesizers.
In 1991, the 5150 studio was renovated and expanded to include a dedicated drum booth; this enabled the band to record the album For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge with producer Andy Johns, producing a darker, harder-edged sound.
The 'Live At Wembley 1995' album issued in 2025 on Rhino Records is a limited edition Record Store Day release with 8 tracks including "Jump" and "Right Now", available worldwide and in North America with prices ranging from €17.40 to €26.00.
