About
Snow Patrol, Northern Irish-Scottish indie rock from Dundee since 1994.
5 vinyl releases tracked, including 'Eyes Open' and 'The Forest Is The Path' with original pressings from 2006 to 2024.
Originally named Polarbears, Snow Patrol is a British alternative rock band with roots in Northern Ireland and Scotland. Founded by singer and guitarist Gary Lightbody and bassist Mark McClelland while studying at the University of Dundee, the band changed its name due to a name conflict with an American group. They initially released their debut EP "Starfighter Pilot," featuring percussion by Belle & Sebastian's drummer Richard Colburn. Jonny Quinn later joined on drums, and the band released early albums that gained regional attention.
Commercial breakthrough came with the 2003 album "Final Straw," which featured charting singles such as "Run," reaching UK Top 5 and earning airplay success in the US.
