After a period of regional teaching, Carn returned to Florida and continues to lead jazz ensembles while his work has been revived by acid jazz and hip-hop artists. His late 1970s album "Al Rahman! Cry of the Floridian Tropic Son" fuses jazz with Islamic themes, jazz-funk, and soul.
