{"product_id":"yokai_humboldt-vinyle_2026","title":"Humboldt - Vinyl","description":"With Humboldt, YOKAï has undoubtedly signed its most accomplished project to date. The group’s third studio album continues its exploration of a singular musical language where jazz, psychedelia, dub, experimental rock and cinematic soundscapes intersect. After a cycle of concerts around Coup de Grâce, 2024 marks a turning point. Now pared down to six musicians, the group opts for a more instinctive and stripped-back approach. Gathered in various residency spaces and creative environments, the members of Yokai develop new musical material through improvisation, allowing structures, motifs and atmospheres to emerge naturally before gradually transforming into compositions. The result is an album that is both immediate and expansive. Recorded in September 2024 at Free House by Capitane Records in Brussels, then mixed by Pieterjan Coppejans at Robot Studio in Ghent and mastered by Matt Colton at the legendary Metropolis Studios in London, Humboldt captures a group shedding the superfluous while further broadening its sonic horizon. Where Coup de Grâce often unfolded its landscapes like a long-form cinematic narrative, Humboldt moves with more tension, motion and electricity. Dub-infused rhythms, analog synthesizers, sharp guitars and hypnotic grooves answer one another in a subtle balance between raw energy and cosmic drift. The album highlights the sonic signatures of Alex Gilain on Rogue Bass Moog and baritone guitar, Yannick Dupont on drums and synthesizers, Eric Bribosia on keyboards and Crumar organ, whose interventions bring an almost cinematic tension, as well as Jordi Grognard on tenor saxophone, clarinets, flute and EWI. Alongside guitarists Clément Nourry and Ivan Tirtiaux, they together shape instrumental narratives that are as adventurous as they are evocative. Far from the ethio-jazz influences that marked its beginnings a decade ago, Yokai now evolves in a territory that fully belongs to it. A space where textures inherited from 1980s library music meet a decidedly contemporary sensibility, where groove becomes a narrative engine and where each piece seems to open onto a parallel world. These compositions evoke uncertain futures, fragmented realities and sometimes dystopian landscapes. Yet, despite the shadows running through the album, the human remains at the center of the statement.","brand":"Yokaï","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":58815948325208,"sku":null,"price":23224529.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/5412690060434.jpg?v=1792189831","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/yokai_humboldt-vinyle_2026","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
