{"product_id":"white-denim_13_2026_bel","title":"13","description":"Los Angeles-based rock band White Denim announces the release of their new album \"13\" on April 24th. An incandescent and groovy blend of rock, funk, dub, soul, dirty blues, and much more, this album is imbued with the same spirit of exploration that has characterized the band since its beginnings in Austin, Texas, some twenty years ago.\n\"I've always wanted to create works that reflect my life experience,\" explains James Petralli about his band's thirteenth album. \"The album title, '13,' refers to the fact that I was born on August 13th. In numerology, the number 13 can symbolize independence, creativity, and strong foundations, but conversely, it is often considered unlucky and can symbolize chaos and misfortune. Like everyone, I can certainly see both sides in my life.\"\nPetralli's eclectic musical tastes have become increasingly voracious over time. The sounds and textures of \"13\" draw inspiration from many artists, from Scritti Politti to The Gap Band, from Terry Reid to King Tubby, from Caetano Veloso to John Cale, from Stevie Wonder to 80s Steve Winwood. This diversity is reflected in multifaceted gems such as \"(God Created) Lock And Key,\" \"Only A Fool,\" and \"That's Rap.\"\nIn a different vein, the more moderate track \"Time Time\" ventures into a soulful, brass-infused universe that already characterized White Denim's previous album, the critically acclaimed \"12,\" released in 2024. Petralli addresses the passage of years, creative freedom, and the importance of family: \"It's a kind of promise that, as long as I'm alive, I will try to prioritize my wife, my children, and our relationships above all else.\" This is one of the central themes of \"13.\" \"I felt I had to write about my life and my experience as an aging father trying to do better for his family and make sense of his life through art,\" he adds.\nThe album reunites band members Michael Hunter (keyboards) and Matt Young (drums and percussion) alongside original drummer Josh Block, who, also having recently moved from Texas to the West, is now Petralli's neighbor. Block's presence on \"13\" – alongside Owen Pallet (strings), Jesse Chandler (clarinet, saxophone, flute), Kosta Galanoupolis (bass), and brothers Griffin and Taylor Goldsmith of the band Dawes – highlights both the fluid nature of current White Denim and Petralli's determination to honor the band's original direction.\nBassist Steve Terebecki, another founding member, is also featured. \"I wouldn't have called this project White Denim if there hadn't been significant contributions from another founding member of the band,\" Petralli states. \"'12' and '13' both benefited from Josh and Steve's participation at various levels. I recorded and arranged most of it.\"","brand":"White Denim","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":56675456876888,"sku":null,"price":24004084.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3700187692308.jpg?v=1770404124","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/white-denim_13_2026_bel","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
